Howell & Vancuren developed a comprehensive master plan to provide a systematic guide for a long-range site improvement program, and to establish an efficient and cost-efficient maintenance program. Site improvement projects and construction cost estimates serve as a basis for fund-raising campaigns and master plan implementation.
As lead consultant, Howell & Vancuren prepared the final construction documents. Construction costs of approximately $7 million provided for renovation of the formal gardens, new ADA accessible gardens, new ADA accessible pathway system, construction of an outdoor allee garden for special events, reclamation and renovation of Crow Creek, renewal of the main entry and drive, grotto, extensive open spaces, lighting, fountains, and public restrooms. The first master plan, conceived for the original owners Mr. and Mrs. Waite Phillips by Hare and Hare in 1928, was fully honored.
An honor award from the American Society of Landscape Architects was awarded for this project, which was completed in spring of 2004.
The Philbrook Museum of Art is located Tulsa, Oklahoma.
